Medicine for Melancholy (Trailer and Short Review)
Medicine For Melancholy
Warning: This is a brief review. I didn’t explain the plot of the story because the trailer will do so. Lazy I know…. Medicine for Melancholy is an indie film that has shown me that there can be a story of romance that just so happens to have African-American characters, and is amazing. I use the phrasing “just so happens” because it seems that movies that center around black leads rely heavily on stereotypes, half witted dialogue, and misrepresentation of the culture. I will not say that Medicine For Melancholy embodies the entire black experience but it does capture an aspect of relationships that I seldom see explored in mainstream. The movie’s dialogue, scale, super indie soundtrack, and dignity give this story heart. You should check this film out. In the meantime, check out the trailer below
